In Talantaalis (Duet), 2019, Kaamil investigates the multiplicity of voices and viewpoints concerning sense of home. Activating memory as a repository of the past, he used his siblings’ everyday cultural garments and draped these fabrics over four canvases. The composition, texture and incense smell of these textiles conjure a passage of time, moments and shared cultural understanding of home and identity.
